Introducing MOVE — Our Promise to Keep You Active

Most people think physical therapy is something you do after something breaks. You get injured, you see us, you recover, you leave. That's the model the insurance industry built. It's not the model we believe in.

At FISIOPR, we've always operated from a different premise: movement is medicine, and prevention is the highest form of performance. Which is exactly why we created MOVE — our commitment to helping every person we serve actually meet the ACSM's updated physical activity guidelines, not just recover from an injury and walk out the door.

The Problem We're Solving

Most adults in the United States (Including Puerto Rico) are not moving enough. Physical inactivity is directly linked to cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes, hypertension, osteoporosis, obesity, certain cancers, depression, and anxiety. The cost in healthcare spending, in years of life, in quality of life is enormous.

And the fix doesn't require running a marathon every 4 months or an expensive gym membership. It requires knowing what you actually need to do every single day to maintain your muscle, bone and heart health.

What the ACSM Actually Says

The American College of Sports Medicine is the world's largest sports medicine and exercise science organization. Their physical activity guidelines represent the gold standard for evidence-based movement prescription.

One key update worth knowing: you no longer need to complete exercise in bouts of 10+ minutes for it to count. That rule is gone. Every minute of movement adds up. A walk to your car, the stairs at work, a set of bodyweight squats between meetings — it all counts toward your weekly total.

What MOVE Is

MOVE is our answer to that problem; it represents the active, ongoing side of what FisioPR does — beyond the acute rehab phase, beyond discharge.

MOVE is the structure we use to help our patients, members, and community bridge the gap between "recovered" and "actually healthy." It's built around the ACSM guidelines, personalized to where you are right now, and designed to meet you whether you're an professional athlete, a weekend runner, a 50-year-old trying to stay ahead of a knee replacement, or someone who just wants to keep up with their kids without hurting all the time.

Practically, MOVE looks like this: a movement program to establish a baseline of strength and endurance, a clear weekly activity target aligned to the ACSM guidelines, programming through our membership platform, check-ins that keep you accountable, and a team of experts that update the program routinely.

Why It Matters to Us

FISIOPR exists because we believe value-based care models and performance-focused programs should be available to people who want to be proactive about their health — not just reactive when something goes wrong. MOVE is the extension of that belief.

The ACSM guidelines aren't aspirational. They're the minimum standard for keeping your body functioning well over a lifetime. They're what the science says. And right now, the overwhelming majority of people aren't meeting them — not because they're lazy, but because no one has given them a clear, personalized, supported path to get there.

That's what we're building. That's what MOVE is.
